Avocado oil is obtained from the ripe fruit of the avocado tree (Persea gratissima), which belongs to the laurel family (Lauraceae) and can grow up to 20 metres high. The fruit has a fat content of between 15 and 30%.
Avocados grow mainly in tropical and subtropical climates. It is normal for them to be cloudy or rainy even at room temperature. This is a normal process for this oil and does not constitute any deterioration of its quality.
Uses and applications: It has a high moisturising effect as well as a natural sun protection factor. It penetrates well into the horny layer due to its high oleic acid content. Its high content of palmitoleic acid gives it a regenerative effect, as palmitoleic acid is a fatty acid linked to the cellular nutrition of the skin. It is suitable for helping rough, scaly and dry skin. It is used in cosmetic creams, oil solutions and emulsions.
